A nice lens cap can be hard to find. Whether your cap is missing or the diameter is not a standard dimension, we make a perfect fitting lens cap.
Good fitting, lightweight, impact resistant lens caps ought to be fitted to any valuable lens. You don’t have to put up with second rate or “found” caps, jar lids, or wrong sizes.
Our lens caps are cut from a solid piece of acetal Delrin. This plastic is quite slippery with a low coefficient of friction allowing for easy installation. Using solid stock means the center will not press in and contact the surface of the glass as is a problem with the ordinary injection molded caps usually supplied with lenses.
The outside dimensions are turned to create a lip for gripping, while the inside is bored out to a very specific diameter. The inside edge then has a series of grooves in the sides. This provides the last adjustment of tension and a channel for air to escape a suction effect.
Our lens caps can also be laser etched. The Delrin responds to laser etching by turning light grey. It’s a great option for marking the lens information or owner of the lens cap. Text or images could be added at an additional cost.
Of course, lens caps can also be made from aluminum. Typical, these caps are threaded and chosen when maximum protection and unusual dimensions are required. The image features our stock Cooke XVa which is designed to go on the rear of the cells when only one is in use.
